It’s Halloween, and definitely comfort-food season, which has me dreaming about Disney treats.
For me anyway, food is a huge part of any vacation. Whether it’s cheese in France, coffee in Melbourne (seriously - Melbourne has the best coffee!), or popcorn on Main Street USA, food is inextricably part of the place.
So today let’s take a stroll through the Disney parks and fantasize about what we’ll eat. This is a short list of the treats I enjoy when I go.

5 foods I have to get at Disney (almost) every time
Popcorn
It might sound pedestrian, but there is something elevated about Disney popcorn. Especially if it comes from a castle park.
I think it’s because it’s always freshly popped, so it’s hot and crunchy, with just the right buttery flavor. Can you smell it right now?
You can get fresh Disney popcorn from carts in all the parks worldwide.
Mickey Waffles
Nothing says ‘I’m at Disney right now’ more than a Mickey waffle. This is also not the sort of thing I usually have for my at-home breakfast, so it always feels like vacation.
You’ll find Mickey waffles at all the character breakfasts, and at some of the quick-serve and table-service restaurants in the parks. Or order your Mickey waffles from Disney hotels’ room service!
Plaza Sundae
At the end of Magic Kingdom’s Main Street is the Plaza ice cream parlor. You can get a simple scoop, but for me, it’s all about the sundae.
The Plaza sundae is my favorite. Two scoops with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry, all in a waffle cone bowl.
There are actually quite a few ice cream shops in the Disney parks, so even if I’m on the West Coast, I can get this same sundae. My classic order? One scoop mint chocolate chip and one scoop cookies and cream. YUM
Are you a hot fudge or a banana split sort of person? What are your go-to sundae scoop flavors? Let me know in the comments.
Ronto wrap
You may have noticed this list is basically all carbs and straight-up sugar. So here’s a more savory favorite.
For quick sustenance, I head over to Ronto Roasters in Galaxy’s Edge. The Ronto wrap is a warm pita filled with sausage & slaw and it is delicious. At breakfast, it’s sausage and eggs. This is the perfect snack when you need some substance but want to make it quick.
You’ll find Ronto Roasters in Galaxy’s Edge at both Disneyland and Disney World.
While you’re there, stop by Oga’s Cantina and get on the wait list, you don’t want to miss it.
Dole Whip
This really is something you can almost never find outside a Disney park. Dole Whips are a juicy blend between soft serve and Slurpee.
On a hot day, there is really nothing more refreshing than a Dole Whip. Get yours next to the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom. Just be careful to avoid an ice cream headache!
Also: Beignets
I would be remiss if I did not mention the outstanding Mickey-shaped beignets you’ll find in Disneyland’s New Orleans Square. Do not miss this!
Served hot in a bag full of powdered sugar, Disneyland’s beignets are worth the trip to Anaheim alone. You’ll find them all day long at the Mint Julep bar, tucked behind Tiana’s Palace restaurant.
Yes, you can find beignets at a few quick-service spots in Magic Kingdom too! Try the Friar’s Nook or Golden Oak Outpost.
